Week Whatever!

I've lost count. I don't know what week it is. Let's go with the old TV-comedy/drama and call it Week "Thirty-something." Thirty-ish. This will be about the last thing I can call 30-something. October of this year will mark my 39th year. I plan on storming into 40 with a vengeance! I'm not troubled about turning 39 or 40 for several reasons. First, I'm healthy and strong. Second, I am the mother of a 4 year old son who keeps me young. Third, I'm the youngest of my group of friends, so they can't rag me. Life is sweet.

Actually, I'm excited about 2005. I think good things are in store. Jadyn starts K4 at Arkansas Baptist School in the fall. My marriage is strong. My mom is in good health. I have great friends. And, I have made a new commitment to myself and feel very hopeful. Dave is wanting to get in better shape, which will help me tremendously. We both want to get back to the lake. He wants to wake board again, and I just want to not be self-conscious!

Also in 2005...my 20th high school class reunion is this year. That is so hard to believe. It seems like only yesterday (but getting older will do that to you). I should go. I may go. I might go depending on how I feel about myself at the time. You know, I've questioned myself about the timing of my fitness and weight loss journey. I'm a shrink, for goodness' sake! Of course I know there is some subconscious motivation there! But that's just it...if anything it must be subconscious because I honestly didn't think about it until I started writing this paragraph. Oh well, I didn't worry about impressing anyone then, why start now? I loved high school, and I had some very good friends there. Why isn't it more important to me now? I guess I really do live for the present and look to the future, not so much to the past. (This has helped me avoid a lot of guilt, too, let me tell ya!) We'll see...

The fitness center has been more quiet this week. The first week after the holidays, it was pretty crowded. An open treadmill, bike, or elliptical trainer couldn't be found. I had to vary my circuit because people kept getting on the equipment and SITTING THERE! Okay, here's where I am going to birdwalk. I don't understand squatters. In my book, squatters are the people who do one machine at a time, staying on the machine between sets while they rest. I see people laying back with their heads resting on the backrest and their eyes closed. I want to walk up and say, "Hey, if you want a nap, go home and sit in your recliner!" I know I'm being picky, but this is a problem that is easily solved. DO IT MY WAY! (I know I sound like my 4 year old, but this is when little guy has a point....shhhh...don't tell him I said that.) When you finish a set, get off! Go to another machine or to the water fountain, anything just go! Keep that heart rate up. You're workout will be maximized, and most important, I WILL BE ACCOMMODATED!!!

Don't you feel sorry for my husband?
